1000W on WSPR?? That is Crazy!! I usually run about 1 watt on that mode. I am not an a total QRP man as I have a linear in the shack here and can run around 350watts, but its not often I do that. In any case that guy must have a BIG amplifier and a big electricity bill :)
The spots of EA5CV are very interesting. He use 5 watts and is received with a SNR of -10 at (05:18 UTC) With a SNR of -10 his signal is 20 dB stronger than the minimal SNR of -33. So he could use 20 dB less power at that moment. He would still be received just above the noise at 50 mW. SNR would be -30 (hi) QRSS and QRPp is an excellent combination. ;-) Bert PA1B
The person running 60dBm needs to understand that nothing is proved by using this sort of power. It is possible he meant 60W, but even that is excessive.
