Higher

You know, I am afraid to go upon the roof. When I was young it was no problem, but nowadays, my neighbor put up the Diamond X-30 on top of the roof. I can hear more repeaters now on 2 meter and 70 cm. On the video you can see my dipole also.

With WSPR on 30 meter I was reported by VK2/VK6DI 16.682 km with 5 watt. On the empty pole I will place in September a 160 meter EH antenna for experimenting. I know the antenna is very controversial, but I like to try it myself.

  1. Ik heb het idee dat de condities erg slecht zijn. Op 30M hoor ik weinig met WSPR en met 5 watts kom ik vandaag ook niet echt ver.

    Heb je ook die ervaring Paul?

    Fantastic that your vertical is back up and running. I am very pleased. And great to be getting an even better signal. Those complaints might have done you a favour!

    Many thanks for the PSU photo. It is a very cool loking power supply. In the UK it is marketed as a "Sharman Multicom" model and, like my little 6A Mydel model, the switch is upside down! Must be made in Australia!

  3. You aren't the only one who is afraid to go on the roof. Antenna restrictions are not the only reason I use attic antennas. There's no way I'd ever climb a tower.

    I'm with you ...... I don't climb either. I fell from a stepladder when I was younger and now I absolutely hate ladders and heights.

  5. Hallo Tjeerd, ja condities zijn erg slecht. Ik heb gisteren de hele ochtend WSPR aan gehadop 30 meter. Ik kreeg alleen steeds dezelfde Italiaan en VK2. Verder niets. Dat vind ik vreemd, wel door VK ontvangen maar nergens anders in de wereld. 73 Paul

    it's my VHF/UHF antenna that went up high. Not the HF vertical. Yes, the MP-8230 PSU is very nice, I like it a lot. Not too big. I hope you can find one. 73 Paul

    Unfortunately, my attic is in use by my daughter. She has her room there. But when she will be on her own in the future I will place a Magnetic Loop there. No more troubles with neighbors. ;-) 73 Paul

    Yes, sorry, I didn't read the post properly. So your vertical for HF must remain grounded. Sorry to hear that.

  10. Hallo Paul, antenne's blijven toch altijd een probleem in ons dichtbevolkte landje. Vooral in de randstad waar iedereen toch al dicht op elkaar woont. Ik heb er hier gelukkig nog nooit problemen over gehad met de buren. De diamond valt niet zo op, maar is toch net zo gevaarlijk uiteindelijk als de andere vertical qua bliksem. Volgens mij zijn de bomen rond jullie huis veel hoger als de antenne, dus ik denk dat je zo ie zo daar al weinig last van zou hebben. Jammergenoeg weten de buren het altijd beter. Dan hebben we het nog maar niet over het fabeltje van de gevaarlijke straling waar veel mensen in geloven. Mooi dat de X30 goed werkt...73, Bas

  11. Hallo Bas, ik heb vrij veel hoge bomen bij het huis. Ik heb jaren lang antennes gehad in mijn vorige QTH boven op een flat en nog nooit bliksem inslag gehad. Dus ja...

    De X-30 werkt lekker op deze hoogte. Heel Noord-Holland is vrijwel te werken zo. Maar ik heb ook al repeaters gehoord uit Almere en Amersfoort. 73 Paul
